Men need Women as much as Women need Men


Grace I have recently noticed that there are more lesbian couples than gay couples. I have always thought it should be the other way round. 

Jim Well, and why do you think that is so? 

Grace Maybe women have the womb, so it is easier for them to have babies if they want even if they have come out of the closet. But it is probably difficult for men to come out in the open with their sexuality, as they are more likely to be worried about finding a woman, to have kids. 

Jim That’s a point, but men can get surrogate mothers if they want. 

Grace Yes, but it is not the same. It is more difficult for a woman to give her womb as a surrogate and not complicate matters. 

Jim A little trivia. We know that testosterone is the primary male hormone and estrogen the primary female hormone which are known to be involved in the sexual dimorphism of the human brain, right? Funny thing is research shows that the hormone responsible for male brain characteristics is estrogen, while the hormone responsible for female brain characteristics is also estrogen! They say it acts in different ways in the male and female brain. It is like there is essentially a woman in each of our brains, one dressed in army attire with a whip in her hand, while the other in skirt and bodice with a glass of milk and a large piece of chocolate cake. Perhaps some of these women get confused and enter the wrong brains. 

Grace Funny, but I am not sure the LGBT community will take your sense of humor lightly. 

Jim I think the gay couples and the lesbian couples should enter some kind of pact or understanding. 

Grace About what? 

Jim They should come to an agreement about womb and sperm sharing, whereby interested lesbian couples can avail of sperm from gay donors, while interested gay couples can avail of a surrogate womb from a lesbian couple. Doesn’t that sound like an apt way of making everyone happy? 

Grace How all these ideas emanate from your brain only God know. 

Jim Essentially, I think men need women as much as women need men. They can have different opinions as to who they want to spend the rest of their lives with, but no man can really shut the door on women, and no woman can shut the door on men. What do you say? 

Grace Whatever you say Jim, you are the boss. 

Jim You mean it? 

Grace No.

Bistrò Italiana: The Big Chill Café

I am not an aficionado of Italian cuisine. As a matter of fact, after eating out at The Big Chill Café at Khan Market, I doubt whether prior to this I had any knowledge of Italian food at all. The pastas and the pizzas have invaded into the Indian palate since time eternity, but not without that local hint. The main ingredient of Italian food, the cheese, used here has always been processed cheddar. Even mainstream pizza joints which were offshoots of their Western counterparts do not serve stringy mozzarella cheese. In fact, real Italian cheese are very rare in India, except for in big departmental stores of big malls. I remember eating pasta at home made using spicy tomato ketchup and processed cheddar cheese. Free Food

A fortnight ago, Cambridge experienced an evening of heavy rain, lightning and thunder. When I shared this with friends not from Cambridge, they heard me out and tried to be nice. It was clear that they didn’t believe that it could have occurred - a five hour long thunderstorm in a region more famous for being one of the drier ones in the country?
